Our Duke will win the Irish National. You heard it here first!

  10. Kevski111 says:

Well done 7T and other backers, won easy: Bit peed off about Arbre being brought down!!

  11. National Punter says:

Snap, got 2nd & 4 th, exactly the same as last weeks national :)

  12. National Punter says:

Well done winners, a worthy favourite won incredibly well

  13. Showlad says:

    WD winners. 2nd and 3rd.

  14. Kevski111 says:

Just checked my account, had 50 quid e/w on General Principle so nice return on that one :)

  15. sampy says:

    WD winners and placers

  16. moreen says:

Was Arbre going well when BD’d?

  17. Corbiere says:

Get in OUR DUKE, awesome also did General Principle in Stanley with 5 places.
Anybody see whether Tiger Roll got bumped into when Minella Foru fell and Arbe De Vie brought down, because after that he was basically out of it.

  18. Mike N says:

Wd winners. That was pretty straightforward for the favourite.

  19. galileo says:

    Hi gang,
CORBS,I just don’t think he was going well at all,was in reverse all the way until pulled up,in TIMEFORMS assessment of the race they did say it was an unreliable type, not really what you want to hear with hopefully
    GN aspirations…..

  20. Pollyowls says:

Wow… that was seriously impressive by Our Duke. For a novice to put in that kind of performance on his 4th chase start was quite remarkable – particularly as he was up with a fast pace all the way
Time was only 8 secs faster than Rogue Angel last year.
However, if Our Duke runs in next year’s National, I’ll plait shavings.. that was the performance of a Gold Cup contender. I haven’t seen a run like that in the Irish National since dear old Dessie gave the field two stone and a 15 length beating in 1990…
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Abolitionist at Aintree though…

  21. Pollyowls says:

    Corbs / Galileo,
According to RP, it was Alpha Des Obeaux that was badly hampered in the melee at the 8th.. he actually did well to eventually finish as close as he did.
Other notes – Dedigout burst blood vessels… the saddle slipped on Raz De Maree after the 1st fence… Baie Des Iles was withdrawn as she was off feed (in season??)
And of the seven that ran at Aintree, only Thunder And Roses and Measureofmydreams completed

  22. Mike N says:

Bit annoyed with the ground at Fairyhouse. If I had known they had put so much water on I would’ve added the Duke. Time was 30 secs slower than standard.
Jury is still out about his capability of handling good ground at Cheltenham.

  23. Lucky Vane says:

The was a sea of maroon colours for Gigginstown, felt sorry for Rogue Angel did all the donkey work in English and Irish National, no wonder he was knackered. Seriously though when studying the form for last weeks Grand National, most of the Gigginstown runners had very long seasons and my personal opinion is he over runs them. Having said that will merit them individually for races like this.
