GN Blog – Technical Problems

Hi,
I understand some of you have been experiencing some technical problems over the last few days – apologies for that.
If you are still having problems can you list the details here and I will get someone to look into as soon as possible

I just tested out posting again on the ‘Countdown to April’ thread, it allowed me to post twice then again failed. It was a copy of something I tried to post before but I had added additional intro at the top so not a duplicate!
It disappeared instead of posting and left me at the head of the page. I then tried to repost that and it said ‘Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!’
I don’t have this problem on other threads on the blog at all from what I’ve experienced.
I do hope this helps and I do hope its not just me

Just posted a small bit of completely new text again and it worked again. I will write a completely new essay when I have time/inclination to try again, but a bit fed up at mo. Like I said the repost of something I saved a few days ago, had a new intro so not a duplicate. Hmmmm

Maybe its your computer. I have difficulty myself with my older model.
Lucky for time being I do have alternative ways to log on.
You said resetting your router helped, if only briefly try contacting your broadband supplier and make out that it’s faulty. You never know they might send you a new router. Anyway good luck with solving your problem.

Hi kj,
Could you give me a quick list of any problems you’ve had on this thread and I will try and find some answers for you – as I understand it you tried to post a reworking of an old post that had some new content and you were blocked from doing so – is that right?
we haven’t updated the software in some time as I am aware this sometimes causes problem for some users but this may be the problem if we are running in too old a version. I will investigate and let you all know asap but if kj could let me know any other issues I will look into those as well

will try resetting before a big GN post next time and repost too, see if it really makes a difference then. Not a computer person at all but seems odd that I can post on other threads here perfectly doesn’t it???
Minnehomma said he had a problem with posting recently for a few weeks? and then it was fine, wonder if he did anything at his end to fix it?… or it just started again as if by magic?!
Well, thanks again for looking into it admin/Darren I suppose if your team find nothing wrong, I may have to bite the bullet and fork out for a new computer, not that mine is old, its maybe 4 I think, but it certainly has never been as good as my last vaio and is always churning away probably infected by oddschecker
or something.

That is correct admin, and as I said Minnehomma had some problems recently too.
Hopefully he can shed light on it if he did something his end or not too.

tried repost again 1556, after switching router off and on again…. no luck
just tried to post here after that and failed on this thread also! so hmmmm could indeed be my end or a combination.

I had a problem with posting during Becher week. Held up for 5 days – thought I was barred.
Seems their posts actually appeared eventually.

Occasionally there can be an issue with posts if there are slight changes in the details of the person posting i.e. if the recognised poster suddenly changes e-mail address or submits a mis-spelled address then the posts can get held up but I can’t see any of yours backed up in our system.
The only other thing I can think of is that we have certain terms blocked to try and stop the mountains of spam we get through and it is a possibility that what you are trying to post is being blocked by those filters, although that does seem a bit of a longshot unless you are pasting a link the system doesn’t like or mentioning something like viagra!
I’ve asked for some technical advice on why this might be happening and hopefully we can come up with some answers but it does seem odd that its not affecting more users – have you tried posting using a different browser just to see if that has any effect?

my post keps not submitting , i have copied it and pasted it, it then says duplicate post. i change a couple of letters and it still doesnt submit.
but if i just type a sentance it works?

KJ I think the problem was on my end. Trouble when I summit large data on my old PC it can sometimes get lost in transmission but yet it’s in the computer’s memory.

What I sometimes finds works is to break a large message into lots of smaller ones.

Which probably means lots of texts from me when posting the dosage profile explanation and table.
Got a beaut explanation lined up using Graham’s Niche Market (with his permisson of course
) has my example. I think its so easy to understand but let others be the judge of that.

it is generally better possibly, but still unable to post essay I saved 
even in bite size chunks, which started with Rubys TMC comments and ended up with ‘a beaut’ theory linking Ruby back up to Niche, via a comment/potential theory I found started by you in april I found while hunting down this flaming bloody quote I can’t post!!!… lol!

Hi everyone,
I will try and get some feedback on the the problems you have been having over the last few days but we are due to have a major software update shortly so I am hoping that will solve any outstanding issues – if you could just bear with us until then.
Unfortunately I can’t give you an exact date when that will take place as we are without full technical support at the moment.
In the meantime, please keep adding any issues you have here and I will see if I can get any feedback.

I’ve tried posting essentially the same post worded slightly differently on 3 occasions in the last hour and nothing is appearing. No swearing in it or anything like that.

We are trying to solve the issue with posts not displaying properly so posts going to the spam file will have to be left there for the time being so we can try and work out why this is happening. I would hope the issue will be resolved in the next couple of days

Thanks. I think Pablo could be right about the number of posts. I remember having a few problems last year posting on threads where there were 600 or 700 posts.

oh god! it just did it again!!! I am not allowed to post comments on TMC must be a sign! try again….
Agreed on TMC, we did discuss him a while ago and I also thought he was a keeper after last yrs race.
The worrying thing was what Ruby said about him. I tried to post several times a while ago but ‘computer said no’
Heres one I found ‘I was struggling before we were hampered heading to the final bend. We nearly fell at the third and after that he was jumping a little too big, but we just weren’t good enough.’
I remember Graham also said TMC put his foot in a ditch very early on and that scared him….. You have to worry the horse won’t run well there again, however he ran ok the other day so he’s not completely lost it. My conclusion is, if Ruby doesn’t consider getting back on, going to be hard to back.

Guys,
Apologies. I had hoped that the recent changes had solved our technical issues but I can see that isn’t the case. I’m trying to get someone to have a look at things asap so if you could not re-post anything that hasn’t worked for the time being. Your posts are there but being filtered into the spam for some reason and I can’t check things all day every day so we will have to try and work out why this is happening. I will get the missing posts transferred but initially I would like to leave them there so our technical people can take another look

When I click the submit button underneath the text box the screen refreshes very quickly (quicker than when the post is actually being saved) and then there is nothing. The text box is empty and that is that. Because this has happened a few times I have been writing my posts in an email and copying them in! If a post fails and then I try to post the submit the same thing again I get a message somthing along the lines of:
“Duplicate post: looks like you already posted that”

Everyone,
I am on leave for the next few days so I’m afraid if there are any further reoccurences of the problems we’ve been having I won’t be around to try and solve or respond to your posts so please keep that in mind. I would suggest if your post fails to register the first time it is not going to post as, for whatever reason, it is being rejected and being treated as spam. Somebody will be checking the main threads for posts that have failed to register but this will be a limited service. Please don’t try to post the same comment more than twice; if it hasn’t posted straight away it is going to need authorisation to go through.
Once again, I’m sorry we are having these problems but as yet we have been unable to find the reason for these malfunctions so we continue to ask for your patience.

Now know for sure that the problem is the “copy” and “paste” feature on the blog itsself as my last post (on main GN thred) got through which was fresh typing and not a copy and paste from other info on blog.
