Cheltenham Festival Betting Blog 2010
Hi everyone,
Calling All NH Fans! We Need Your Input!
We are working on getting our blog on our Cheltenham Betting site off the ground and the extremely high level of the responses on the blog here on Grand National Guide is exactly the kind of input we are looking for – Can you help?
http://www.cheltenham-betting.co.uk/
We like to think there is some great info on the site that could help new and experienced punters alike and the addition of a more active blog this year will, we hope, give our readers even more of an edge over the bookies during the four days of the fabulous Cheltenham Festival. But we need your help. As you well know blogs thrive on vibrant discussion so we would be very grateful if our regulars (and any newcomers) would be so good as to pop in and give us their thoughts on the five opening threads we have set up on the four major races and an open thread on the other races.
Hopefully then the Cheltenham Blog will become a regular stopping off point for you all!
You can get to the blog through the main site link at the top of the page or through the handy link below:
We’d love to see you all over there as well as here on Grand National Guide and once again thank you all for all your marvellous input over the last couple of years.

To be honest I think Paul Nicholls two would be fighting out the finish of the Gold Cup again. Don’t think he’ll ever have first five though like a certain tainer in the early eighties. He even pointed you on the right horse (Bregawn). I talking about Michael Dickinson here a true gent and a master of what he did (including Da Hoss a winner in the Breeder’s Cup.)

Nice one admin!!
After the performance by Denman in the Hennessy, i really can’t see any horse getting close to him if he repeats that. Would love to see how Cooldine comes back after his performance in the RSA – but seems as if he’s having a few problems
The Champion Hurdle looks like being a cracker. That was a very strong Bula at the weekend, ran in a very good time. Despite Celestial Halo losing it was still a personal best and has earnt a very high mark. So many in the race with chances and the race at Leopardstown on the 29th will surely add another shake-up to the market as i expect a nice mare to enter the frame. Does Zaynar really deserve favouritism?
One race that really has started to grow in stature is the Ryanair, lots of top horses being targeted at it, but i’m fully expecting Imperial Commander to put them in their place
At the moment, if there was one banker, i’d have to say Big Bucks. Dunguib way too short at the moment and i cant wait to see another run from Washington Irving
Not had any AP bets yet and dont tend to for the festival
Anyone had any AP bets yet

Agreed Denman to win the Gold Cup if he keeps his current form.

When is the Cheltenham Blog going to be up and running? Just clicked on the link and the page seems to be under construction.
Not had any AP bets yet and I generally avoid getting too involved in the Festival AP. It’s difficult enough picking winners from the big fields on the day yet alone in advance when you don’t even know what’s running! The novice hurdle races, the RyanAir and to a lesser extent the novice chases must be bookie benefit events on the AP market.
I’m going on the Tuesday so might have a couple of e/w Lucky 15s in advance. Thinking Sports Line in the Arkle and Medermit in the CH. Might just stick them in a cheeky e/w double…..

Hi everyone,
Sorry, I haven’t made this very clear and as The Stayer has pointed out the Cheltenham site looks quite a bit different to this one so might take a bit of getting used to. The idea is that we want to build up a Cheltenham blog but not on this site as we want it to be clear to new users that on this site we discuss the Grand National and on the other site the discussion is centred on Cheltenham. So, here is what you need to do if you would like to post your Cheltenham views:
1. Go to the following link http://www.cheltenham-betting.co.uk/
2. Once you are in, click on the link on the left hand side menu that says ‘Cheltenham Betting Blog’
3. Read the threads available – we currently have one each on the four main races at Cheltenham and one thread for the other races
4. Click on the number of comments and then write your comment leaving your user name and email address in the same way as you do here
I appreciate the display is not as user friendly as we have on this site but if we get a small core of contributors regularly posting I can work on getting the functionality and appearance of the Cheltenham blog improved. I’d be really grateful if some of our regulars could join in over there as I think this would be a really useful tool for all of us who like a bet and are interested in narrowing down the field through systems and form study rather than just jumping on a newspaper tipster’s bandwagon.
So, just to reiterate, please leave me any questions or suggestions you might have about the Cheltenham site here but I’d be really grateful if any Cheltenham based tips/info could appear over on our Cheltenham site. If you click on the link below you should jump straight to the correct page:
Cheltenham blog
Thanks a lot and hope to see you over there as well!

Has anyone got any trends used to find winners of the major handicaps. The willhill trophy etc. Think we should have a go at cracking some of these on route to the national

Hi TC,
We have got some stats on all the handicaps on our sister site http://www.cheltenham-betting.co.uk/
the william hill chase page is linked below:

Why not try the Cheltenham blog out while you are over there?

Don’t know if it’s just me but when I click on the link to the blog it comes up with a blank page that just has the title and “16th December 2009″ on it.

Guys,
I’m afraid the Cheltenham blog is not as user friendly as the GN one and we are having a look at both blogs in the next few months with a view to make them both more accessible.
If you click on the blog link above you will get a list of articles, the top one as you say dated December 16th. From there you just need to click on the number of comments in whichever of the five threads you wish and you can leave your own thoughts.
If you are still having problems try going in through the following link:
http://www.cheltenham-betting.co.uk/
and then selecting the blog link from the lefthand menu.
Please let me know if you are still having problems and I will get one of technical guys to investigate.
Thanks
Darren

Hi,
It appears there is a problem with viewing the Cheltenham Blog if you are using Internet Explorer and we are looking into why this is happening.
The blog works fine if you have Mozilla Firefox as an alternative browser. Please let us know if you have any problems viewing through Firefox and we will work on getting things sorted with IE.
Thanks

This is an excellent free tool for anyone having a punt at the Festival (probably most of us):
http://www.cheltenham.co.uk/racing/watch_historic_races.html
You can watch all the races from last year’s Festival on there for free and also the PP and December meetings.

Thanks Neil,
We’ve updated the version of the software and done some tinkering with the code so now the Cheltenham blog should work ok for everyone, irrespective of their favoured browser!
We’d really like to hear your views on the four championship races and there is also a seperate thread for any other Cheltenham races you may have a fancy in. Hope to see over there!
