I very rarely contribute, but could I just add that I really like Eric's charm and Snowy Morning. They come into my top 8. Although EC maybe a bit near the older edge, but I'd still give him a second look this year.

Only one thing wrong if we all work out our runners from the same stats we will be doing the same horses and could miss another Mon Mome. It's better like the pre new year list that you started to come up with our own list, compare them and see what comes out.

Sometimes feelings for horses could prove stronger than stats.

Yeah i agree he wants to win it desperately, but i would be prepared to be patiently with AS, unless he gets some decent runs into him now, i'd wait a year

"JP also has King Johns Castle - surely he can’t have 4 runners in the race"

TC,

JP really want's to win the race and he had Can't By Time, L'Ami, Butler's Cabin and Reveillez in the race last year so I would expect him to have 4-5 runners again this year. Trevor Hemmings will probably have 4-5 as well so there's a fifth to a quarter of the field gone already!!

Sorry guys - I did mean to close this thread down at around 500 but wasn't around in the last couple of days - I will open a new thread now so if you could bring things to a close on here that would be much appreciated - some great stuff on here.

Also, with the stats page, I'm thinking that could be a good idea but maybe everyone who would like to contribute could pick one set of stats that they would like to add - I wouldn't want it to become overwhelming for any newcomers that come along and it might be a good idea to keep things succinct on that page or we might all get a bit confused!

Anyway, keep an eye out for a stats page in the next few days and have a think about what you would like to add.

Thanks
Darren

Also mentioned before that AS hadnt gained a high enough rating going LH. I think he would have o win the willhill chase at cheltenham.

All fair comments about s/r% but if Niche Market was better than his s/r% would suggest he is then, then he would surely have a better s/r%! Papillon, Bobbyjo and Numbersixvalverde, among others, were raced with an eye on keeping their OR down but that was during their GN season. Niche Market began the season with 38% s/r.

Systemsman, that C1/C2 17k win could easily be achieved between now and GN day. 5/18 GN winners won a chase from 1st January onwards. Rambling Minster had poor s/r% and no C1 win/place in season before GN. 16/16 had C1 win/place at 20f or more season before their GN win and a 47% or more s/r.

Addition to my list above:

Also include Joe Lively, My Will and Erics Charm, whose ORs are now in the correct range.

Also considering Irish trained runners rated 133-138, as these may get the usual Phil Smith treatment:
