*******DENMAN UPDATE***********

In light of the withdrawl of Denman we will allow an additional entry from those who have already made their selections. The latest entry will override the previous and will be the final, counting entry. If you choose not to update your entry then the exisiting figures will be used.  NO FURTHER CHANGES WILL BE PERMITTED.

The weights for the 2009 Grand National will be published on Tuesday February 10th and as a number of you have been trying to work out what burden your fancies will have to carry, we thought we would run a competition to coincide with the issuing of the weights.

All you have to do is nominate what weight the following horses will be allocated on February 10th and then complete a tiebreaker of EXACTLY how many horses you think will be left in the entries after the publication of the first weights on Tuesday i.e how many horses will be allocated a weight.

The horses we would like you to try and work out weights for are:

Hear The Echo
Butlers Cabin
Comply Or Die
Himalayan Trail
War Of Attrition

Tiebreaker: Number of horses entered at Tuesday 10th February =

Just cut and paste the above paragraph together with your ideas of each horses weight and the number of entries on Tuesday.

You get 10 points for every horse’s weight you get exactly right and 5 points if you are 1lb out either way (higher or lower). Any other weight scores 0.

In the unlikely event of a tie and matching tiebreakers we will provide an additional tiebreaker.

Entries for this competiton will be accepted up to 10am on Tuesday 10th February.

In the event of one or more of the featured horses not actually featuring in the weights then just the remaining horses will count

Only one entry per person please and there can be no editing of entries so don’t enter until you are sure you have your final version.

The exciting prize for this competition is twofold. The first part of the prize is a copy of Weatherby’s Aintree and Punchestown Festival Betting Guide 2009. An invaluable guide for all those amongst us who are interested in trends and this year it has been extended to cover the Punchestown Festival as well as the main focus of our attention, Aintree.
In addition to this we will also give the winner the chance to write his or her own preview of the Grand National for publication on Grand National Guide. You will have a maximum of 350 words to give all our Grand National readers your ideas behind what will win the great race and why.

We reserve the right to edit the winning entry where necessary.

Good luck to all and let’s try and get as many entries as possible – tell your mates!!!!
