Grand National Blog: The Future
April 8th, 2008Hi everyone and thanks again for all your comments and input over the last few months.
We’ve been chatting behind the scenes here at Grand National Blog and we’ve decided that we will have an analysis page on all the races we think that might have some relevance to future Grand Nationals, starting with the Scottish National on the 19th April. I’ll start a page up with the basic trends in the next couple of days and we can start cracking away at that race as soon as possible, although I see some of you have beaten me to it!
A number of people have mentioned the possibility of analyzing the Derby, Leger, Guineas etc but, at the moment, we are focusing primarily on races that have a bearing on the Grand National and, as such, we won’t be focusing on any flat races.
There is a flourishing horseracing forum on the OLBG site (see link below) and this would be a good place to start any trend based discussion on the Flat Classics.

We will be looking to build up a list of races to focus on throughout the season that has a bearing on the National such as The Becher Chase, Irish National, William Hill Handicap, Eider Chase (Now that Comply Or Die has broken the bad record!), etc etc. Give us your thoughts on the races you would like to see included and we’ll come back with a list in the not too distant future.
Hope to see you all back as regular contributors throughout 2008 and into 2009.

The future looks bleak. Can you adam and eve it, only 14 posts on the Scottish National. Perhaps all the C.O.D. fans are 2 busy spending their winnings.
If there is a future I would like to see analysis of the races you mentioned and also BET365 Gold Cup, The Hennessy and The Welsh National.

I know this looks a bit mad but i’ve picked some possible stat horses for next year. Cailin Alainn,Cane Brake,Church Island,Dream Alliance,Hot Weld,Offshore Account,Southern Vic,State of Play,Trabolgan and Parsons Legacy.Wander if any of these will make it to the race?Has anyone else had a look yet or am i the only madman in the village?

Hi Systems Man,How is your DERBY pick coming along? I have layed Twice Over at 4/1 on Betfair before the Dante as it didn,t have a high enough stamina index to win the DERBY.Also had a few quid on Tartan bearer at 16/1 for the race so looking very promising at the moment.

Wacky - the 3 that ive backed ante post for epsom so far are tartan bearer, kingdom of naples and aleassandro volta - im sure all 3 will stay and i think they all have the stamina index pass mark as well.. the fly in the ointment now is casual conquest who i hadnt even looked at coz he wasnt originally entered…doh ..! he looks a serious machine based on his last run and could be worth a saver on the day . id be delighted if mr stoute pulls it off with tartan bearer as it almost looks like a carbon copy of north light…

TARTAN BEARER & CASUAL CONQUEST fit the trends and lets hope that will be the CASE.I’ve got TWICE OVER & HENRYTHENAV’R in the book and hope CURTAIN CALL & NEW APPROACH do the same. GOOD LUCK
