Got the winner plus two placed (if you bet to 5 placed bookies). Anyone beat that?

Russell seemed to do well with win and place.

OK Guys time to nail my colours to the mast. I am torn between the class of Cloudy and Comply but not convinced they will get the distance (cloudy) or have enough LONG distance classic race placings (comply)and torn to the other option of great horses finally kicking back into form. Weather I hope is enough of a fly in the ointment for D'Argent to make his stamina tell and get a place. I'm going to go with latter - great horses with classic 4m+ racing credentials, who fit stage 1 of stats, returning to form on the Big Day.
So, here we go!
1 - BUTLER'S CABIN
2 - SLIM PICKINGS
3 - POINT BARROW
4 - D'ARGENT
5 - MCKELVEY.
On hols tomorrow (though ofcourse I'll be seeing the big race!!) but having a chillout so won't be at pc or laptop. Back next Sat, look forward to reading all the reactions and hope enough of you are sticking around to have a blog and share reactions too. Thanks to all for a great site, esp the statisticians esp Systems Man and Wacky.
Good Luck ALL and God Bless the horses and jockeys :)

My main bet is D'ARGENT each way. I just hope his jumping holds out. If so, he's got a great chance. Who says grey horses don't win the Grand National?

I topped up on him at 28/1 at William Hill earlier. They soon dropped that price!

I've also had a smaller bet on POINT BARROW, but I've felt less confident by the day since his run at Gowran Park a few weeks ago. However, the Irish trainers are canny...

I may throw a fiver each way on NAUNTON BROOK for fun when I put the kids' bets on tomorrow morning. He's way overpriced and could easily run into a place.

COMPLY OR DIE will be in my 6 x £1 tricast with D'ARGENT and POINT BARROW.

Thank you to everyone for their advice, research, enthusiasm, expertise and wisdom over the last few weeks. It's been fascinating to read everyone's views. I've learned a lot. If only we could all win!

Looking forward to the post-race analysis. I'm sure it will be lively but good-natured.

I have backed:
Comply Or Die
Mr Pointment
Chelsea Harbour
Mon Mome
Butler's Cabin

I haven't put any money on Cloudy Lane because of the short price.

Thanks Brody. Looks like Dunbrody missed reserve list by 1 or 2. Ne'er mind. I shall look forward to touching base with you all this evening when I shall be nailing my colours to the mast re my top 5.

Admin - why don't you run a lil' competition, with a daft prize for the winner? Points could be awarded in a variety of ways -
eg 5 points for getting correct 1st place and 1 point for getting correct 5th place or a point for each horse you guess correctly in the top5? Might be a laugh :) You could crown the Grand National Blog Tipster of 2008 lol
